Shabake is a historical fantasy mystery that follows Ichitarō, the frail but kindhearted son of a wealthy merchant family in Edo-period Japan, who has the unusual ability to see and interact with yōkai (spirits and supernatural beings). Though his poor health keeps him sheltered, his sharp mind and compassion often draw him into curious incidents and mysterious cases where both humans and yōkai are involved.
