Chibi Maruko-chan

Chibi Maruko-chan

Chibi Maruko‑chan follows Momoko “Maruko” Sakura, an imaginative and occasionally lazy nine-year-old navigating life in 1970s suburban Japan. Based on Momoko Sakura’s semi-autobiographical manga, the series highlights funny and honest moments with her family, classmates, and spirited grandpa. Maruko’s daily adventures—often trivial but full of warmth—reflect universal childhood experiences with gentle humor. Since its revival in 1995, the Nippon Animation series has aired over 1,460 episodes, making it one of Japan’s longest-running anime. The show continues to air new episodic shorts every Sunday on Fuji TV, beloved for its nostalgic charm across generations.
