Sakura Uta, a lively second-year middle school student who loves to sing, is drawn into a magical quest when she meets Purirun, a fairy seeking the legendary Idol Pretty Cure. Using enchanted items, Uta transforms into Cure Idol and, together with her classmates and fairy friends, battles the dark forces of Team Chokkiri to restore light and sparkle (Kirakira) to both KirakiLand and Earth.
